Frequently Asked Questions

What is polyresin and what are its benefits?

Polyresin is a high-quality synthetic compound made from polyurethane and crushed stone. It offers the elegant, stone-like look of traditional materials — but with added advantages. Japi’s polyresin pots are extremely lightweight, weather-resistant, shatterproof, and durable. They can withstand UV rays, moisture, and temperature extremes, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Where can I see the planters in person?

See our "Store Locator" page to find stores near you that stock our Japi planters.

How long will my order take to arrive?

We use trusted local courier services to deliver products from our premises in Durban North to your doorstep. Orders are typically processed and packed within 1–2 working days. Delivery time depends on your location — deliveries to major cities arrive faster, while rural or outlying areas may take slightly longer due to courier routes.

Why choose a lightweight pot over a traditional cement pot?

Lightweight pots offer all the aesthetic appeal of cement planters but are far easier to move, handle, and position — especially for larger plants or rooftop gardens. They’re durable, versatile, and less likely to cause strain or damage when shifting between different spaces.

Do Japi pots break easily?

No. One of the biggest advantages of Japi pots is their impact-resistant polyresin structure. They won’t crack or shatter like traditional ceramic or cement planters. Their flexibility and toughness make them ideal for both indoor and outdoor environments.

What is the cost of shipping?

Shipping costs are calculated based on the size of your order and the delivery destination. However, we offer free delivery on all orders over R2,500 within South Africa.

How should I clean my Japi pots?

For best results, simply use mild dishwashing liquid mixed with water and a soft brush or cloth to gently remove any dirt or residue. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these may dull the pot’s finish.

Where does Florastyle ship to?

Florastyle delivers nationwide through reliable courier partners, reaching all areas serviced by established delivery networks. Please note that, in rare cases, we may reserve the right to decline shipment to extremely remote locations if courier costs become unreasonably high.

Are drip trays available?

Yes. Most Japi pots have a corresponding drip tray, which you can find listed in the product description. Be sure to select the correct tray size to complement your chosen pot.

Do Japi pots fade in the sun?

No. Japi pots are fully UV-protected and all-weather resistant, designed to maintain their vibrant colour and finish even in harsh South African sunlight.

Do the planters come with drainage holes?

Our Japi planters do not come with pre-drilled drainage holes by default. You can request that we drill them for you before shipping, or easily drill your own using a standard metal drill bit.

With drainage holes, you can plant directly into your Japi pot and use a drip tray underneath to collect excess water. Without holes, we recommend using a “drop-in” liner pot — this sits neatly inside the Japi planter, allowing any excess water to collect at the base. This option is especially ideal for indoor spaces or areas with wooden flooring to prevent water damage.

Drainage holes vs no drainage holes — what’s better?

Drainage holes allow for direct planting and promote healthy root growth by preventing waterlogging. A drip tray can then be placed beneath the pot to catch any overflow.

Planters without holes, on the other hand, offer a clean, leak-free solution — perfect for indoor display. Using a “drop-in” liner offers both convenience and protection, collecting excess water neatly inside the pot without any external mess.

Can I paint my Japi pots?

Technically yes, Japi pots can be painted — however, they already come in a wide range of beautiful, modern finishes that complement any space. We recommend keeping their original colour to preserve the quality and design of the finish.
